THE ORGANIC GROWER
The Organic Grower is the flagship publication of The Organic Growers Alliance.
It is published quarterly and brings together news from across the sector, technical articles, seasonal ramblings and updates from OGA members. Renowned organic grower Iain Tolhurst wrote that "The Organic Grower is probably the best magazine of its type in the English language".
I was founding editor of The Organic Grower with Tim Deane in 2007 and have been sole editor since 2011. Since Issue 8 in 2009 I have also been responsible for design and layout.
Technical guides
These two guides were produced for the SustainFARM project at the Organic Research Centre.
SOCIAL MEDIA
I manage and/or contribute to a number of social media accounts for The Organic Research Centre, Organic Growers Alliance, Seed Cooperative and other projects.
PROJECTS
WAKELYNS AGROFORESTRY: RESILIENCE THROUGH DIVERSITY
New updated version – Wakelyns Agroforestry: Resilience through diversity. I designed both the original (2020) and the updated version of this booklet (2024) for the Organic Research Centre. Marking 30 years of agroforestry at Wakelyns, this revised edition of Resilience Through Diversity celebrates the work of Martin and Ann Wolfe, fellow researchers from ORC and the wider research and Wakelyns community; as evolved and expanded by their son David Wolfe and his wife Amanda from 2020.
ORGANIC FARM MANAGEMENT HANDBOOK
The Organic Farm Management Handbook is the flagship publication of The Organic Research Centre - the only source of information on the costs and performance of organic farming in the UK and Ireland.
I have been a contributor to the Handbook for many years. For the 2023 edition I was responsible for the design and layout, introducing colour tabs for easy navigation and a more accessible style.
IRRIGATION: A GUIDE FOR NEW GROWERS
Written by small-scale growing irrigation expert Pete Dollimore, this guide was produced as part of a collaboration between OGA, CSA Network UK and The Gaia Foundation’s Seed Sovereignty project, funded by Farming the Future.
I was responsible for the design and layout of the publication.
THE PROMISE OF AGROFORESTRY:
LESSONS FROM THE FIELD
This Landworkers' Alliance report is aimed at policymakers, farmers and anyone who cares about land-use and the environment in the UK. It makes the case for more substantial support for agroforestry in the UK, and draws on eight examples of existing projects to highlight the benefits of agroforestry in practice, as well as to draw out some of the lessons we can learn from them.
I was responsible for the design and layout of the publication.
ORC BULLETIN
The Organic Research Centre Bulletin contains reports on ORC's research and other activities, as well as information on research conducted elsewhere and perspectives on policy, organic standards and other issues. It is produced 3-4 times a year, distributed to ORC's subscribers, supporters and co-operating organisations.
I have been responsible for layout and content since 2013 and Editor since 2016.
